Chicago History
- Created in 1993 by Vicki Quade & Maripat
Donovan, based on their experiences growing up Catholic in Chicago and the stories and
experiences they've heard through the years from friends and family members.
- May 28, 1993. First preview/dress rehearsal.
- May 29, 1993. Opens as a late night offering at Live Bait Theater.
- June '93. Due to its popularity, moves to the main time at Live Bait.
- August '93. Moves to the Organic Greenhouse.
- September '93. Moves to the Organic main stage. Runs for a year at Organic.
- September '94. Moves back to Live Bait for short run while looking for long-term lease
somewhere.
- November '94. Moves to Zebra Crossing Theater for short run.
- January '95. Opens at the Ivanhoe Theater.
- August '96. Original production partnership decides to fold.
- Vicki Quade & Maripat Donovan create new production partnership for Late Nite
Catechism in Chicago.
- Vicki now produces the show in Chicago, Maripat stars in the national production.
- Runs for five years at the Ivanhoe Theater.
- May 2000: Opens at Royal George Theatre Center.
- May 2002: Starts its tenth year in Chicago.
- November 2002: Opens at new Crossroads Theater in
Naperville, Illinois, ran three years.
- June 2005: Vicki Quade's comedy Put the Nuns in Charge!, opens at the Royal George to rave reviews.
- May 2007, Vicki's comedy "Sunday School Cinema" opens.

Other Locations History
Late Nite Catechism is now on a national tour.
- The play opened in April 1995 in Boston and ran for almost two years.
- An Australian version opened in December 1995 in Melbourne and ran a full year.
- The play toured in Australia.
- In 1997, the show ran for six months in Sydney.
- The play opened off-Broadway in October 1996 to rave reviews at a new theater in St.
Luke's Church, on 46th between 8th and 9th. The play is now in its third year
off-Broadway.
- In October 1997, the show opened in Toronto, ran for 12 weeks.
- In late 1997, a Spanish-language version runs for six weeks in New York.
- In January 1998, the play opened in Philadelphia, still going strong.
- In February 1998, the play opened in Seattle, still going strong.
- In July 1998, the play opened in Providence, Rhode Island for a month-long, sold-out
run.
- In September 1998, the play opened in Portland, Oregon, still going strong.
- In December 1998, the play opened to rave reviews in Londons West End. (The London
Evening Standard called Late Nate Catechism one of the top six shows to see.)
- In February, the play did two-weeks in Raleigh, North Carolina. (Standing ovations.)
- In February 1999, the play opened in Dublin. (The Irish Times loved the show!) Ran for
six weeks.
- In March 1999, the play opened a four-week tour in Indianapolis. (Four-star review in
the Indianapolis Star.)
- In May 1999, the play opened in Los Angeles for a 12-week tour. (Rave in the L.A. Times)
- In May 1999, opened for a sold-out week in Naples, Florida.
- In July, opened in New Orleans. (Selling out, rave in the Times-Picayune)
- In July, opened a sold-out week in Buffalo, New York.
- In August, opened a month in Des Moines, Iowa.
- In September, opened a 16-week tour in St. Paul, now extended.
- In December, re-opened in Los Angeles at the Coronet Theater for an extended run.
- In January 2000, did three weeks in Scottsdale. Will come back for eight weeks in
summer.
- In February, Maripat and Vicki are nominated for L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award in the
writing category. Maripat wins for lead performance.
- In May 2000, open second year in Los Angeles.
- In July 2000, open second year in New Orleans.
- In July 2000, open the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Montreal. Sold out three week
run. Will return for four-week engagement.
- Throughout 2000 and 2001, opened virtually weekly in smaller cities throughout the U.S.
- May 2001, opened third year in Los Angeles, still at the Coronet Theater.
- June 2001, opened production in San Francisco at Union Square Playhouse.
- September 2001, opened second year in Aurora, extended indefinitely.
- October 2001, opened in St. Louis to rave reviews.
- November 2001, Quade/Donovan Entertainment took over the Los Angeles production.
- November 2002, opened at Crossroads Theater in Naperville, Illinois. Ran for three years.
- September 2003, opened at Miramar Theatre in Milwaukee for a short run.
- 2005, Late Nite Catechism had an extensive run in Pittsburgh.
- 2006 saw productions open in Connecticut and Maryland
- 2007, played in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas to name a few.
